July 2009 - Crime: Murder
Battle Creek, Michigan - Kevin Hoover had obtained a CCW permit but lost the permit due to a misdemeanor crime. Unfortunately, when they took the permit, they didn't confiscate the firearms. If they had, they might have prevented Hoover from shooting and killing his own father-in-law, Andre Settler, during Mr. Hoover's birthday party in front of numous family members, including children.
July 2009 - Crime: Assault and carrying a concealed weapon
Excelsior Springs, Kansas - Bounty hunter and CCW permit holder, Michael Knight, decided to help a friend repossess a black Pontiac Bonneville. As the teen driving the car stopped the car, Mr. Knight reportedly drew a taser on him, grabbed him by the neck and drug him out of the vehicle in front of witnesses. Couple of small problems - you don't drag people out of their car, especially when IT'S THE WRONG CAR! It was even worse when the police found Mr. Knight's Glock holstered on his hip and his concealed carry permit which expired two years ago.

Cincinnati, Ohio - Kyle Adam Rogers, a CCW holder and member of the US Army was charged after brandishing a gun during a road rage incident. He was arrested a few blocks from where the incident took place.

Ellenburg, Washington - Dustin Sims, a CCW permit holder, became angry at a truck driving down the street, took out his semi-automatic and pointed at the vehicle. He then walked several blocks while waving the gun around. He was spotted by police and arrested.

Unfortunately, he chose to pull his gun and identify himself as a police office. Now, both the thief and Mr. Brookhouse are facing charges. Police appreciated the help but stated that in a situation like this, there was no reason to pull a firearm.

In a separate case, Dunn is being charged with filing incomplete firearms training records while servicing as a concealed weapons instructor. In February 2008 a grand jury found Dunn acted in self-defense when he shot and killed a man during a dispute at his home.

Larson, who had eight prior operating a vehicle while intoxicated arrests, had a loaded .45-caliber pistol in his car, as well as a large folding knife, brass knuckles, and a bag of marijuana. He was charged with operated a vehicle while intoxicated , felony improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, using weapons while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana.

A search of his car at the time of the arrest found a loaded handgun, a loaded shotgun, duct tape and love letters to Johnson. The 17 year old's parents are filing for a restraining order against O'Ryan.

Mr. Borham decided to up the ante by informing Mr. Popish that he should "back off because he had one" and that he had a concealed carry permit. Mr. Borham, a short time later discovered that it's not a good idea to threaten was an off duty police officer. The case was later dismissed with prejudice and Mr. Borham has filed suit. [ed.
